STEP 1 OF 10

WHO IS GOD?

Getting to Know the God Who Knows You

When people hear the word God, they may picture very different things. Some think of a distant ruler watching from far away. Some think only about church or religion. Others are not sure whether God can really be known at all. The Bible presents God as the Creator who made us, knows us, loves us, is holy and just, remains faithful, and invites us to know Him.

1. God Is Our Creator

The Bible begins with God. Before there were people, nations, churches, or even the world we know, God existed. Genesis teaches that God created the heavens and the earth. Christians believe that life is not an accident and that creation has meaning because it comes from God.

Being created by God means your life has value that does not depend on popularity, appearance, money, grades, success, or what other people think of you. You are not valuable because you have proved yourself. You have value because you were made by God and bear His image.

Psalm 24:1   NLT | KJV

2. God Knows You

God knows you completely. He sees where you go, understands your thoughts, and cares about every part of your life. You never have to hide from Him. He knows your thoughts, words, choices, strengths, fears, and the parts of your life you try to hide. God does not love a pretend version of you. He knows the real you.

3. God Loves You

God’s love is shown through what He does. The clearest expression of His love is that He sent Jesus for us even while humanity was separated from Him by sin. His love and truth belong together, calling us toward life, holiness, and relationship with Him.

4. God Is Holy and Just

God is completely pure, good, and set apart from evil. Because He is holy, He takes sin seriously. Because He is just, evil does not simply become good because people approve of it. We all need God’s mercy and forgiveness.

5. God Is Faithful

People sometimes fail us, break promises, change their minds, or leave. God remains true to who He is and to what He has promised. Even when you do not understand what He is doing, you can learn to trust His character.

6. God Is Near

God is greater than creation, but He is not distant from it. He is near to those who call on Him and close to the brokenhearted. You can speak to God anywhere. Christian faith is not built only on what we feel; we trust what God has revealed.

Psalm 34:18   NLT | KJV
Psalm 145:18   NLT | KJV

7. Can I Really Know God?

Yes. Christianity is about knowing God. He has made Himself known through creation, Scripture, and most clearly through Jesus Christ. Knowing God is a relationship that grows through the Bible, prayer, obedience, the Holy Spirit, and healthy Christian community.

Jeremiah 9:23–24   NLT | KJV
John 17:3   NLT | KJV

Try This Week

  • Read Psalm 139   NLT | KJV slowly.
  • Write down one thing you learn about God each day.
  • Talk to God honestly for five minutes.

Take a Moment

Before moving on, sit quietly for a minute. Think about what stood out to you. Growth often begins with one truth that you are willing to keep thinking about and living out.

Prayer

A Simple Prayer

God, I want to know You for who You truly are. Help me understand Your character and trust that You know me completely. Thank You for creating me and loving me. Show me what it means to walk with You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Remember

Keep This With You

God is Creator, personal, loving, holy, just, faithful, and near. He already knows you, and He invites you to know Him.
